“Derring Do” Game Concept
My video game concept for Derring Do is a 2D pixel rpg with magic and fantasy characters. The game will revolve around storytelling, side quests, dungeons and PVP duels. I want Derring Do to consist of a great storyline that you can proceed through and have an end goal but make it more underlying like minecraft, where there is an end goal but not necessarily the most important goal to everyone. Derring-Do also needs to be consistent in multiplayer gameplay. I want you to be able to travel this open world looter with friends as a company of up to 3 people and also fight amongst other online players for loot. You will have a character creation in the beginning that will allow you to choose from an Orc, Human, Elf, Dwarf or Wizard. Each individual has their own skill set meaning, Orcs will be strong and use more of double sided axes and hammers as the wizards will use magic and staffs. Mostly what I would like to focus on is the multiplayer PVP mechanics. Some of the best games out to date have the design in which you play against other players and if you lose/die then you lose all of your loot to other players. I'm very intrigued by these games and think that they make for more technical sides of video games and how to play smarter. Though this game will look fun and happy and dandy I want there to be a difficult twist that makes this game more intense in a certain fashion. Fighting mechanics is what I'm kind of struggling on because I don't want the game to be a slasher but I know that the majority of these games tend to fall under that type of gameplay. I want this approach to be taken very carefully and so the game runs smooth and feels like a fun yet difficult pixel rpg but with new fighting mechanics that allow you to have a good fight with another online player. Another thing that matters to me a lot is world building. I've seen many shows and games in the same realm of fantasy/tolkien type of esthetics and for me and I know many others it feels very homie and something familiar. I would like to create that same feel to my world building so then my audience will keep coming back to the game and playing over and over again so that it's something everyone can feel close at home with.
